Training

The purpose of our Training Division is to ensure that we can provide the very best service to our community. Our firefighters train constantly in order to remain effective in firefighting, Hazardous Materials, and EMS practices. We accomplish this by conducting consistent, relevant and quality training with our personnel.

We use modern training techniques based on current industry trends and recommendations by the NFPA. Our training program provides fire and rescue professionals with essential information that supports ongoing professional development and enhances training efforts, whether online, in the classroom or during hands-on training exercises. Our program also teaches advanced tactics related to high-risk/low-frequency events, like technical rescue and active shooter incident response.

Additional training with area companies and other regional fire departments contributes to further educational benefits for our firefighters. Mutual Aid Training and Pre-Fire Planning keep Ouachita Parish Fire Department ready for numerous emergency scenarios.

The importance of training is vital in the world of emergency services. When life safety is at risk, competence of our responders is paramount.
